New Location Announced for April 2023 Local Area Consultations
Friday 7th April 2023
Join the Project Team at the Fisherrow Centre this April for the next Local Area Consultations.
Esksides Area
Fisherrow / Mountjoy Areas
Edinburgh Road Area
Due to the temporary closure of the Brunton Theatre, the April consultation events will now be held at the Fisherrow Centre.
Fisherrow Centre | South Street | Musselburgh | EH21 6AT
This will be the next opportunity to provide feedback on the design of the Scheme before the Outline Design is presented in June 2023. Your input is important in helping to design the best possible Scheme for Musselburgh.
We now move toward the design of:
- Placemaking and the needs of public spaces adjacent to the Scheme;
- Landscape design – including trees, habitat, biodiversity, and sand dunes;
- Nature-based solutions and natural flood management (NFM) within the Scheme and the emerging ‘River Restoration’ concept being advanced between the A1 road bridge and mouth of the River Esk;
- Access / connectivity requirements between the town’s urban / road landscape and the river corridor / coastal foreshore;
- Amenity and playpark requirements in these locations; and
- Musselburgh Active Toun and the incorporation of the active travel pathways into the town alongside the Scheme and / or on the replaced footbridges.
The consultations are aimed to focus exclusively on the design development in the areas of interest of each group. Whilst we intended this public meeting for those living in proximity to the area, attendance is open to anyone who wishes to come along and contribute to the development of the design in these locations.
The Project Team look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas. Whether you have suggestions for improvements, concerns, or simply want to learn more about the project, your input is valuable.
We hope to see you there.
February 2023 Local Area Consultations
In February we held a series of public Local Area Consultations in The Brunton Theatre. Here we looked at the flood risk to Musselburgh and presented different climate change flood risk ‘scenarios’ – one of which we will be protecting against.
We also explored the different forms of defences that may be used to deliver the new physical barriers that will stop flood waters inundating the town from the River Esk, the Firth of Forth, or the Pinkie Burn.
You can access all the consultation materials at Local Area Consultation – Esk Corridor and Local Area Consultation – Coastal Foreshore.
